Easter Dinner with the Senior Missionaries

Now that we are temple missionaries we get to participate with the temple missionaries in their activities. Two of the couples will be going home the week of April 8, that will leave three couples with a new couple coming on April 8. In Cusco we were the only missionary couple in the mission. This group loves to eat and have fun. Below the pictures is a Ole on President and Sister Lees.

Ole For the Lees

How does someone put to rhyme
so many thoughts about the Lees?
It isn’t as easy as one might think,
so just be patient. Right now, please!

Shopping has to be near the top of the list,
especially the Inca Market and Gamarra.
Or how about Wong’s to scope out the cheese?
Do we have to wait ‘til tomorrow?

Tottus, Metro, Makro for groceries
or WoodFlair for Peruvian sculptures.
Hair salons like Lalo’s for cuts
or to Gucoss for pedi- and manicures.

How about visiting a handicraft fair
or just a walk through Jockey Plaza?
After a full Monday of any of these
it’s always nice to return to the casa.

Their home has been known to house buzzards above
(much better than a crow)
And they kindly keep a room cold enough
to serve as a meat locker below.

As far as technology goes, they have special talents
and always end up real glad
That computer, iPad or embroidery machine questions
all can be answered by Brad!

The list of things they like can be long
and should start with strawberry milkshakes.
Add to that caramel popcorn and ice cream
and cookies that Kay always bakes.

Of course there are non-food things that they like
such as movies and playing card games.
Woven baskets and nativities, anything out of horn,
and bling all add to these names.

But the list is not complete without more food –
like toffee candy and wafers called Necco.
And of course there is chocolate, chocolate
and chocolate (did everyone hear that echo?)

How about things they don’t like –
stacking your dirty dishes, driver tests
Car alarms, leaky roofs, problems with carné cards,
insect bites and other pests.

Kay dislikes the title of ‘Matron’
so ‘Mom’ is what we should call her!
President Lees prefers ‘Bob’
and would rather not be called ‘Sir’.
If you have a question don’t ask Kay –
her response is always ‘I don’t know’
Refer all of your questions to somebody else
who wears clothing white as snow.

It doesn’t take much to get these guys to order pizza
or to talk about chocolate-covered Oreos
But if you really want to see a quick response
just whisper Chili’s or San Antonio’s.

Food again – how do we always end up there?
Let’s talk about positions and appropriate roles.
How many other temple presidents play in a soccer league?
How many actually score goals?

They have been involved in a van assault
and they’ve ridden on busses and trains.
They visit stakes to give conference talks,
and they know secrets for getting out stains.

Seamstresses? Yes they know a few
and they give rides in the van or the car.
That could be why they stuck us in Camacho
(which always seemed to be so far).

They’ve been known to show up in Paracas
and have visited Cuzco once or twice.
They’ve been to the jungle, the mountains and deserts
and they thought Lake Titicaca was nice.

Seriously though, some words to consider
when trying to define these two friends accurately
Would include generous, respectful, reverent, smiling
and sharing desserts with security.

Yep, they are thoughtful, considerate, polite
and pass out complements readily.
Their positive attitude can be infectious.
We should all catch it and not look for a remedy.

The thing they like best and will never deny
is their family and that is so true!
And since they treat all of us as nice as they do
we feel like part of their family too.

Well, I am waxing high on the mushy scale
and we all need to just get over it.
So remember to smile when you tell all that
‘you know that you are their favorite!’
