My first week back in Lima I ran into Christian by accident. We just had a brief exchange and I need to track him down again. So, today I got up and was at the bus stop at 6:00AM. P-Day was the first opportunity I had had to return to our old bus route. Saw many familiar faces and got some big smiles, and questions about where we had been for the past three months.
Christian has been our good friend for the past 10 months, had his family to dinner and we have taken him to church several times. I rode his entire bus route this AM. It was a four hour ride, much longer than I had intended. His turn-around is in Callo at the end of a long dirt road in a depressed high crime area. We ate breakfast at a "restaurant"/ "road-side-stand"with several of his friends who were also familiar faces to me. It was a long ride, but Christian was very happy to see me and the ride is through an interesting area. When we returned to La La Molina they deviated from their regular route to drop me off at the Temple.
