Today we went shopping in Gamarra. About a square mile shopping district filled with hundreds streets and thousands of stores. This picture was taken at about 11:30 am and things were just getting going.
The picture does little justice to the throngs of people that fill the streets and sidewalks. The area is not considered safe, but the trio had me to watch their backs.
Kris, Allen and Daniel shopping. It is tradition in Peru that members of the ward help support young missionaries. Daniel, standing in the left of the picture, received his call several months ago. He is going to the MTC in Columbia next month and then to Ecuador. We took him shopping to fill his some of his needs and help him out. We entered a clothing store and pictures of the First Presidency were all over the place. Daniel is a very nice young man, works at the Area Office washing vehicles to earn money for his mission, and told me he was going to be the best missionary ever.
