Cusco Update

We have been in Cusco for two weeks now. This is a beautiful resort town, 12,000 feet high in the Andes. It is certainly a different pace town than Lima. We live in this beautiful valley with mountains surrounding us. There are a half of million people here. There are few buses and we generally ride in small taxi's. It it 3 soles ($1) to go anywhere in the city.

It is summer time and it is the raining season. It rains almost every day, but it is not humid like Lima. It is cold for being summer. Our apartment is small but is large enough for our needs. There are so many things to see in Cusco. We plan to use our Saturdays to explore and have fun.

Our good friends, Bill and Nancy Armour will be visiting us in April and that is when we will see Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley and many of the other wonderful sights. There are tourists here from all over the world. We love to go to the Plaza de Armas and walk around. There is lots of shopping and great restaurants in the area.

There are many great shopping adventures here in Cusco. I am busy learning where they are all located so when my daughter-in-law Cher comes to visit, we will be able to visit many of them. The Inca  Indian here are Quechuan and speak Quechua. Many people here in Cusco speak English. This going to be an adventure here in Cusco.

This is the beautiful new archives building. The build is not completed and looks like there is a few more months of work before the tenants will move into the building. They are allowing the archives to move books into the basement. Our office will be in the basement. The building is very cold. I hope to be able to put a heater in our room.

I have been sick since arriving in Cusco. I got bronchitis when I arrived here in Cusco and have had a very hard time adjusting to the altitude but I am doing better now. It is hard to breath in this altitude and I have struggled to get over the bronchitis. I get a little better every day.
