We gave up our Peruvian identification today and completed our paper work to depart the country on June 27th. The Peruvian Immigration office is only a few block from the National Archives, so we stopped by and said good-by to all our friends. These people were all familiar faces of street vendors and Archive employees. It was interesting to see that my paid replacement in the Archives had not broken my one week work record of 15,232 images. The pictures below are of people we know and friends we have made while working as Record Preservation Missionaries in down town Lima. We will miss them. We also made a side trip to Gamara on the way back.
David knows I got on his case for the lack of planning during our Cuzco assignment, but he was very gracious about thanking us for our work during the past 15 months. He will be in Salt Lake in September or November.
This shoe shine guy now sports a New Lima City Jacket. I suspect this is a new City ordnance and he had to pay a city fee to work near the Palace of Justice. Ella. I got two good-by kisses from Ella
We ate at this small restaurant almost daily for eight months
My replacement
David is the Stake President of the Lima Tombo Stake and the Record Pres. Area Supervisor
Archive Staff. Most of the workers had taken the day off for Father's Day
While this photo did not come out, these four people were dressed up like characters from the movie Predator.
