Sunday soccer in Ate (pronounced At-tay) is usually filled with violence and often death. This pictures were taken in front of the temple as the streets started to swell with hundreds of police and thousands of people several hours before game time. The stadium is about a mile from the temple and the temple guards were worried about my safety when I stepped out on the Javier Prado to take the pictures. June 23, 2013.
