We Are Not Alone

This week Doug and Pat Lowe arrived from Minnesota to help with the photographing of records at the archives. Doug was a corporate attorney and Pat has been a genealogist for the past 40 years. They arrived at the airport on Monday night at 11 PM and Bob went to the airport with the transportation shuttle to pick them up. They will be an added addition to the archives. David Tirado is excited for the additional help. Keep in mine there is still 20 years of photographing to complete the work in this archive.

On Monday night we attended a Family Home Evening presented by Elder and Sister Packard from Arizona. They talked about seeking and following the promptings of the Holy Ghost. They discussed that many times a day the Holy Ghost may "prompt us" and give us directions of things that are important to do or not do. When we follow these promptings, miracles can happen many times in our lives. Learning to follow and not ignore the promptings helps us to understand the will of our Father in Heaven. Also many members feel unworthy to receive direction from the Holy Ghost and simply do their own will and not God's will. Promptings from the Holy Ghost are invitations from a loving Father to do those things that will satisfy our needs and bring us happiness and peace.

One of the things we can do to help us recognize the prompting is pray each morning to do the Father's will. Pray with a piece of paper and write down the things that come to our mind and act on them. Have a small notebook to write down promptings because sometimes they happen in a moment and never come to our mind again. In Alma 34:38 it states "Contend no more again with the Holy Ghost, but that ye receive it..." This is such a great reminder of how our Father in Heaven will guide us if we ask and listen.

This was a great lesson to acknowledge God's acceptance of our thoughts and actions that causes real happiness, peace and feelings of worth in our lives.
