Elder Bednar Remarks At MTC

I received an e-mail from a friend regarding some remarks that Elder Bednar made at the MTC this week. Although they are second hand remarks they are very interesting:

"One of the instructors at the Orem Institute was at the MTC this past Tuesday night.  Elder Bednar was the speaker, and said this:

Last night Elder Bednar spoke at the MTC. He taught many wonderful things, and I thought you would be interested in one thing in particular, which is what he said about the change in age requirements for missionaries.

He said that he has already heard people speaking and speculating about why the change was made. This causes him and the others "who were in on the decision" to laugh. He said this is "apostolic humor."

Then he said that the ONLY correct reasons can be stated in two verses of scripture, which he paraphrased, saying:

"The Lord is able to do his own work" (see 2 Nephi 27:20-21) and

"The Lord will hasten his work in its own time" (see D&C 88:73).

He also said, "This is yet another raising of the bar, and here we go!" He bore powerful testimony of the Lord's mind and will being revealed to those we sustain as prophets, seers, and revelators, and said we should pay exceedingly close attention to the general conference talks of the First Presidency and the Twelve, and especially President Monson's closing remarks."

I went through President Monson's closing remarks and found 10 things Pres. Monson ask us to do.  If I hadn't done that, I wouldn't have realized all the things he really said in the short closing remarks that he gave.

Have a wonderful week - A Member from my Stake

I went through President Monson's remarks and found the ten things he asked us to do:

Presidents Monson’s Ten Requests In His Closing Remarks

1.  I encourage you to read the talks once again and to ponder the messages contained therein.

2.    As I reflect upon my life’s experiences, I thank Him for His many blessings to me.

3.   I express my gratitude as well for the noble men who comprise the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

4.   As you willingly fulfill callings when you are asked, you are helping to build the kingdom of God on earth.
5.    May we ever watch over one another, assisting in times of need.

6.   Let us not be critical and judgmental but let us be tolerant, ever emulating the Savior’s example of loving-kindness. In that vein, may we willingly serve one another.

7.   May we pray for the inspiration to know of the needs of those around us, and then may we go forward and provide assistance.
8.   Let us be of good cheer as we go about our lives.

9.   The Lord admonished, “Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

10.   May we emulate His example. May we show our great gratitude to Him by accepting His sacrifice and living lives that will qualify us to return and one day live with Him.
