A typical day for me starts at 4 AM. I am up and out of bed. It is just like still working for the Office of Recovery Services (my job for the last few years). We catch the bus at 6:15 AM and arrive at the archives around 7 AM. We love traveling on the bus an meeting the Peruvian People. We never see another Gringo on the bus. We especially love the children and keep candies and cookies in our bag for the kids. We are usually the first to arrive at the archives with the archive manager. We set up our first book and are ready to start taking pictures by 7:20 AM. On a great day we can photograph about 9 to 10 books (3000 pages). Some days we only do 6 or 7 books depending on the condition of the books we are copying.
We work with wonderful, dedicated people. There is a reverence in the archives for those who have passed on. The basement of the archives is old and musty. It took me a few weeks to make the adjustment. Knowing the work we are doing and having a love for this work makes it all worth while.
We love the La Molina Viejo Ward that we attend. The people are so warm and excepting of us. We always feel welcome and loved. Recently the two wards in the building had the boundaries changed. That added a number of additional people to the ward we are attending. Everyone is so happy to see each other on Sunday. We love these people and know God has placed us in a special ward not only to love the people but to have the people love us.
