Bob and I are really
enjoying this mission. Traveling to the archives every day is a new adventure
and we never know what is going to happen. We continue to get to know David our
leader. David is a wonderful, dedicated and truly wonderful person. He has the
laugh that is contagious and reminds me of a teddy bear. He has a loyalty to this
work that is spiritual in nature. Knowing this man a great blessing in our
lives.
Alan, whom Bob and I call
our guardian angel, is also wonderful. Alan has been studying graph design and
photography at college and is a natural for taking photographs here at the
archives. Alan is a 26 and protects me when I am taking pictures. He and Bob
have to scout the area out to make sure no one will steal my camera.
We are attending the La
Molina Viejo Ward. It is a very small ward. The missionary told us that most
members in the ward couldn’t walk to the ward because it is too far away. Even
by bus or taxi it is too expensive for many members to attend. Bob and I are
support missionaries on Sunday only. Our missionary assignment is the archives
at this time.
Our P-Day is Saturday, which works out well with Jim's Family. Jim has
Saturday off and can take us shopping. The church we are assigned to is three
house’s down from Jim's residence. Jim’s family attends a ward where 50 percent of
the members are American. The kids also have English speaking members to attend
Young Men’s and Seminary with.
After church on Sundays, we walk over to Jim’s house and have Sunday
dinner and see Cher and the Boys. Jim loves to cook and does Sunday barbeques. I
try to bring desert and rice or vegetables.
