The previous post is about the Director of the Peru records collection, David Tirado. I hope you find it interesting. I believe most members of the church have no idea about the kind of records the church has quietly capturing over the last fifty years. Truly there are many great stories to be told about these record photographers and the sacrifices they have made to captor the names of the spirits living on the other side of the veil. This mission has given Bob and I a knowledge of what goes into the preserving of millions of the worlds hidden treasurers of names those spirits that have left this world.
My husband often mentions when he is talking about our responsibility to these spirits the quote by President
HENRY B. EYRING FROM A TALK IN APRIL 2005 CONFERENCE:
Hearts Bound Together
"When you were baptized, your ancestors looked down on you with hope. … They rejoiced to see one of their descendants make a covenant to find them."
One of the beautiful analogies of our responsibilities is my husbands thought that "The Atonement is what Christ did for us that we cannot do for our self and we in turn can do temple work for these spirits because they can not do it for themselves."
When I think about this it inspires me to want to participate in some way in genealogy, whether it be research, indexing or temple work. This work will go on whether we participate or not. This work can be done in our homes and we are all called to do this work.
